She was about four years old. On her very first flight when the plane went airborne, she said, "when do we get smaller?"

But it all began at Christmas, 2 years ago, when my daughter was 4 yrs old. it wast the first time she had ever asked about what the holiday meant. I explained to her that we celebrate the birth of jesus. she watned to know more about that, so we bought a kids bible and read at night. she loved them. She wanted to know everything about jesus. We read about his birth and teaching. She would ask constantly about what that phrase meant, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." We would talk about what that all meant. One day we were driving past an old church with a huge crucifix. I guess I had never told that part of the story. Oh, well that's Jesus. I guess I didn't tell you the ending. His message was so radical and unnerving that he had to be killed. About a month later after that Christmas, it was mid-January. Her preschool celebrated Martin Luther King Day. I took off work that day, and when we went out to lunch we viewed the art section of the newspaper. That's Mr. Luther King. We're celebrating his birthday and his life. She said, "so who was he?" He was a preacher. "For Jesus?" Yeah. But there was another thing he was famous for. He was a preacher, and he had a message. He said you should treat everyone the same no matter what they looked like. "Well that's what Jesus said." Well yeah, I guess it is similar. "Did they kill him too?"
